RE: My TV broke :(
Our TV gets used for Netflix movies and that's pretty much it. I refuse to pay for cable or dish. (which is mostly Spanish or Religious channels) I do miss a few things, like the Food channel or Discovery or TLC, but really we're quite fine without it. We just spend more time on the internet. Wink

My reason for being is to serve as a cat cushion. That is good enough for me. Wink

RE: My TV broke :(
My partner and I don't have tv either. If there's a show we like, such as South Park or Community, we just stream or download. The giant tv that sits in our living room is primarily for his X-box and for Netflix/movies.

When I first stopped watching tv, I was amazed at how much more free time I had. Even having a couple more hours in the day allows for that much more time to study, read, clean, surf the web, go outside, exercise, etc. Plus, without all the stupid commercials and stupid tv shows, I found that my self-confidence went up. It was only after not watching commercials that I realised how much they affected my self-perception.

Guys , the most seeds for movies are btjunkie.org
Seriously , the pirate bay has seen a lot of fire and the seeders aren't what they used to be - at least in the movie department.

As for entertainment - I love the debates on YT between atheists and theists.
TV is mostly depressing for me - mostly just the same atrocities in the news and little information value. And most channels that presented serious documentaries now present crap that has entertainment value.

For good documentaries I'd recommend fora.tv

My TV is on a support on the wall , overlooking my bed and I rarely used , mostly when I want to fall asleep with a light source on.

Piratebay has the best community, which results in the best feedback. Most torrent sites don't even have comment sections, PB usually has about 10 pages of comments per movie/game letting you know if the audio lags or if it's actually a Cam instead of a dvdrip. And if the seeds have fallen off, I haven't noticed. I can usually D/L recent movies within an hour.

Many commercials are designed psychologically to make you feel bad or down and at the same time present the product as the solution. Also the average TV family is in the $300,000 per year range. Advertisers back shows like this because they make most people feel like they are not keeping up to the standard that they see, (ie. the (TV) Jones). The goal of a TV station is to sell advertising time. The goal of the advertisers is to sell product. The shows are there only to attract people to see commercials.

True but the feedback on some torrents is crap.
Usually filled with n00bs asking what to do with a rar archive (which I don't mind , but I do min when someone asks about it a 5th time after it's been explained), and contradicting comments:"This is virus" , "no it's false positive". The only feature of TPB I like is the trusted user mark - that's unique and good.
btjunkie is spammed to hell in the comments section but they have plenty of seeds , especially a day or so after a Family guy/American Dad or House MD episode shoes up - usually takes 3-5min to download.

RE: My TV broke :(
Those are my favorite comments. 16 pages on a pirated game full of "I click .exe and it ask for key, what is cd key?" or "online mode doesn't work."

"Crack, mount, install, play? How does crack and mount mean?"

Perhaps some people shouldn't pirate.

We all start somewhere - I get ignorance.I don't get willful ignorance.
I understand if someone asks once ,it's just when they ask 50 times for a CD-key or how to mount that I get pissed off.

As for btjunkie, it's SPAM-TASTIC. Most comments are artificially inflated to 10000 reputation and 200-300 thumbs up and are usually a link to a tiny.url with just a short description like : "crack here" or "much better", or "good video quality here" or "this porno is old , password to brazzers here".

RE: My TV broke :(
The only decent source of torrents, spam free and mostly cooties free, is http://www.demonoid.me
If you just want to watch stuff, there's http://tv.blinkx.com/ And of course Hulu and Netflix.

All that hate's gonna burn you up, kid.
