RE: My cover may have been blown.
Well, mine may be about to be blown to my parents, if it hasn't been already. I don't *think* it has, but my brother's was today by my ex sister-in-law as a form of revenge.

Mine may be soon to follow. Unsure

As a lost soul who is being guided by the devil Dodgy , I have no advice. Just solidarity in heathenism.

I saw this advice given to someone else in a different thread, I thought it might be good for you as well. (bold added by me)

If you have to test the waters bring up some sort of religious issue and mention atheism in it. The resent agenda that Seth just posted on his podcast. About the charity group that denied the athiest groups money. See what she thinks about that. You may hear something you didn't expect from here. Be it good or bad.

Anyone in my family who comes to visit.

Sadly, RocketSurgeon's joking aside, I cleared my browser history when relatives visited, not to hide porn, but so they'd not see that I was coming here and make assumptions such as the ones that happened to you.

It's a sad day on the internet marketplace of ideas when relatives come to visit and one must cover up their tracks regarding their religion discussions/investigations, but not their porn browsing, lol. If one's mother found out about the midget porn fetish that's no big deal, but agnosticism/atheism? Too risky.

Maybe I'm just lucky. I'm kind of old school, I have a desktop. My wife has a personal laptop and one for work too. If someone comes over they tend to borrow one of her laptops. Nobody but me has logged on to my computer in years. The kids don't know how yet, and the wife knows better, lol.

RE: My cover may have been blown.
Thanks everyone, for giving me peace of mind.

I'll just have to see how this all plays out.

The most likely scenario is nothing will come of it. My mother-in-law is not one for confrontation. But when she's behind closed doors she can be quiet nasty. Speaking ill of people to her daughters. Or dwelling on easily solved problems that she could have resolved at the time, but shifts that blame to the other party.

I've told my wife on numerous occasions that if her mother has a problem with something I've said or done, she can always talk to me directly. Which I know she will never do, because as I said early she doesn't like confrontation.

My greatest fear is how she will take it out on my wife. My wife only has her mother and sister as famliy. She has aunts and uncles but her mother doesn't like to travel. So she's been traped in the same small town her whole life. It wasn't until I took her traveling did we meet and become closer to them. I have a much larger famliy that supports each other in times of need. Her famliy will help, so long as their repayed. Usually with money.

Holy shit. I just realized I've become a stereo type husband complaing about his mother-in-law.
