RE: My lungs are giving up
I count myself lucky I don't even have allergies...I would be a frantic wreck if I couldn't breathe properly.

That said, I second the mint tea. On days where I'm sick and congested, mint tea (especially fresh mint blossom tea) is a godsend hehe.

Have you considered growing mint? I grow chocolate mint and the blossoms make for a SUUUUUPER potent tea.

Obviously it's not an actual medication but it does lend some serious relief for me.

@ Loom: At some point you get used to what your lungs do. I promise, you wouldn't live in constant fear. About growing mint. I kill plants. I don't know how my basil is still alive but generally I kill plants. I am really bad at taking care of plants.

RE: My lungs are giving up
Hugs to you, sweetie. Please don't avoid your pulmonary doc because you are ashamed or fearful that she might be upset with you. Your doctor wants to help you feel better and breathe better. They see patients that have major set backs all the time. They know patients have trouble quitting the smokes.

You have quit, so kudos to you. So start over to help yourself by checking in with your specialist again. She may suggest new treatments and/or a CPAP.

What do you have to lose?

When I was at the doctor yesterday, he also prescribed me an inhaler that has steroids. To help me get better again because I have been super sick with my lungs for almost a week now.
So I have to use it morning and evening, two puffs. Fair enough. Use as the normal inhaler.
I can barely keep it in from the normal inhaler.
The steroid one doesn't ... I get a coughing fit when I try to take my two puffs.
So now I got whistling, painful lungs and can't breathe right.
Also can't just go to bed and deal with it because my breathing will be flatter then and how much flatter from almost not at all can I go before I suffocate...

How do I do this dammit? Fuck my shitty lungs, honestly.

Okay. This is something I may be able to help with.

When I was admitted to hospital some time ago, I had a very bad cough and found breathing difficult.

While the cause was never discovered, an antibiotic drip over time cleared this cough. You may need to spend some time in hospital.

Avoid going to a GP. Simply take yourself to the emergency department at the hospital. Breathing difficulties are life threatening. The emergency doctors will take your case seriously.

Here's what you do. Grab a bag and in it place your phone charger, laptop etc, toothbrush and toothpaste and underwear. You may be admitted. Also a good book.

Hopefully the hospital will have wi fi.

Keep us up to date.
