Speaking from experience never underestimate the manic-depressive or the bi-polar to the lengths they will go to manipulate. Since this ruse did not work she may very well up the ante next time, mine did and very nearly killed herself...twice. Do you have adults who can counsel you through this? No one should go through this alone and especially at 14. I was 19 when my mother became manically depressed and while she is still with us the deep psychological scars are too.

Dude, I'm sorry you're in a shitty situation, but it is not your fault. Even if you were the catalyst (which may not be the case) it isn't your fault. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. She did something to you (action) you disowned her (reaction) she did something to herself (reaction). If I threw a baseball threw my neighbors window I would not blame the ball for breaking the window, I would take the blame, it was me that set it in motion. Don't blame yourself, it isn't your fault. Hope things look up for you, I know you've been through a lot of shit this year. As always I'm happy to talk anytime you need it.

Edit: Didn't see your update. 100% agree with the others, though if she does decide to 'step up here game' so to speak, heed my words. It will not be your fault.

I have to agree with Kim and the others. Find someone who can help you through this and to get past it. But people who do that sort of stuff don't respect you as a person. There are people in this world that do or can or will, but it isn't worth the emotional turmoil of being emotionally blackmailed, treated like crap, disrespected and manipulated in manners such as this.

What was it one of my friends was saying the other day... "Family members are the first to slap you in the face and the last to apologize." or something along those lines... the family card is a crap one to pull and them being family doesn't excuse them for treating you poorly and their inability to respect your feelings. Get some help.

Agree with AS and others--her mental illness issues were there way before you and will be something she will always have to deal with. I'm sorry you're being put through all this drama at your age. You are intelligent and sensitive, and it's good that you care about her. But it's ok to set boundaries with her, especially regarding manipulation.

This is not your fault. Please rest assured of this.

I would say... follow kim's suggestion. It'll allow you more freedom in the future. Anyone making a teen bear the burden of someone's life should not be a part of the teen's life.
