My new leather field journal
My nephew and I stopped in the local head shop down the street from my university to see what kind of funny hippie stuff they sold. It was a teenager's wet dream--plenty of novelty gags, incense, posters, music, shirts, figurines, jewelry, and "paraphernalia." On our way out my nephew noticed some gorgeous leather bound journals with handmade paper. Each had Wicca-inspired art embossed on the leather. I got a small one for him because he likes to write; he chose one that had a beautiful dragon design. It was held shut by a leather draw string that was long enough to wrap around it several times. I chose the largest one with a neat tree design that reminded me of Yggdrasil from Norse myth. It was shut with a brass latch. I'm pretty happy with it. It looks like something that would hold magical spells. I will most likely use it as a field journal when I start studying primates in the wild.

Thumbsup Thumbsup

It's looks somewhat medieval-ish, fantasy-ish.
Like something my D&D magic-user, or Lord of the Rings Online lore-master would carry. Wink

I shall sacrifice my first born to appease the Lord.

Btw, ghostex, I picked up some like those in Beijing a couple of years back.

I'm not sure if it's just the humidity here but the paper decayed very quickly.

So, keep it in a dry place or get some of those little silicon packet thingys that you get when buy leather stuff from a sex shop.

And if you are using it for field notes, do forget to press 'save' regularly and do a back-up.

Thumbsup

That is one awesome book you have there.

Be a shame when something happens to ruin it.

A single action is worth more than the words it takes to describe it.
