Oh, they're edible enough; they even taste pretty good.

But you'd have to eat about a thousand to compare to a single potato or taro or yam or manioc or jicama or daikon or carrot or whatever modern domesticated root or tuber you might think of...

Also, paleo can't fry.

Frying requires metal cookware. Paleolithic is literally by definition pre-metallurgical.

Notwithstanding that any and all domesticated species are out too, of course - chicken? almond? peppers?
