Rainbow My parents say "who created the big bang?" and ..
"how do you think we got here?" They won't actually look into how these could be possible without 'God'.

I've also recently become aware of the fact that my mom believes that people who have Near Death Experiences are actually experiencing Heaven.

I've tried to explain what a rational reason for all of these to occur would be, but their desire to believe far exceeds their desire to know.

Welcome...yes it's a common argument. I always ask why does it require a creator?

Actually, now that I think about it, the way I finally got my dad to start critically thinking was to ask him to define his beliefs.
He started out confident, then when I kept asking about it and asking for parameters/definitions, then pointing out contradictions and misunderstandings, he ended up scratching his head.
Now he's asking me questions about science, philosophy, and other religions. Granted they are stuff you learn in Jr. high, but it's a start Thumbsup

Try that (it won't be instantaneous, it took me about a month)

Nah, they just say that God has always been. The creator doesn't need to be created.
At least, that's what I'm told anyway..

And why can't this apply to the universe?

My question to people that hold this belief, as in, they believe that science is correct, and that evolution and the Big Bang happened, but were at the hand of god is.... why? What reason is there, after the book of Genesis has been thoroughly debunked, is there reason to hold on to god? As new discoveries are made and the reality becomes more distant from the bible, why hold on to the concept of something that you only know through that incorrect book?

Or
"That wouldn't make sense"
