Do some studying but most of all, don't get behind. If it is not making sense to you, get help from some tutors right away!!!

Physics can be fascinating.

It depends a lot on your teacher, his didactic method, your talent and general interest.

Physics is so hard to many, because you wont get that far with just trying to memorize stuff conveniently (like for other classes your arent much interested in either). Long term success depends a lot on your ability to really understand what you have learned and being able to connect the various topics at hand.

To get more interest in the topic of physics, try to look around you and identifiy where the topics you just are trying to learn apply in your real life. Try to connect the real physical world you live in with the science and it becomes more interesting and you will be able to memorize more and better.

Welcome to the forum. It's appalling that you had the fear of god drilled into you as a kid. No child should be brought up in fear.

Physics is algebra with real world applications. Now when you solve for x it tells you exactly how bad an idea launching yourself in a bathtub from the roof really is. Because some people need to see the math on that one.

If it's giving you grief try these:

For fun try Kerbal Space Program. Yes, that's my idea of fun. Also Universe Sandbox:

For a reasonable primer on evolution try:

And an interesting evolution simulator:

Enjoy!

I can maybe give you some pointers on what to study, if you are really interested in physics, as I have a BSc degree in it. I also taught it for a couple of years. At the high school level, it will be algebraically based (calculus is algebra, just maybe more advanced than what you may have learned, so far). Hope that made sense. Don't let that difficulty deter you. I have found that when I don't understand what the hell is going on with a topic, I memorize it. In the process, I get that "Aha!" moment.

Your story kind of makes me sad. Maybe it's because I know there are so many others who grew up like you did -- in fear. Fearing that everything you do is a sin and that you will go to hell. Fearing that questioning such beliefs and the reasons behind them will not only lead to damnation but also being rejected by the people you care about. No child should have to carry that burden.

I'm glad to see how happy you are now though. It's so freeing.
