I hope it's "Hintermann" and not some "n" between Hinter and Mann.

I used to know a girl in high school. Her last name was Nickles. First name.... Penny.

Another kid in high school had a the great name of Doug Van Daninden. Pronounced Van-da-nin-den. It was such a fun name to say over and over again. It reminded me a little of the SNL character, Roseanne Roseannadanna. I love to say that name too.

Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors.... on Donald J. Trump:

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.

RE: My unfortunate last name.
My mother grew up in the second district of Vienna between the wars. That's the traditional jewish quarter and she always told me about a butcher carrying the name "Afterduft". In German "After" is one of the many names for ass and "Duft" means smell or fragrance. So this guy was named ass smell.

Much later I looked up how names like that came to be. Turned out that jews in the 18th century could buy an appealing last name. If they didn't have any money, the authorities named them however the particular official felt like naming them. Even today there are quite many peculiar jewish names to be found, although for quite some decades now it's pretty easy to change ones last name. Especially if it is even remotely offending.

Could be worse. Your name could be Felcher.

My last name is Wichmann. Shouldn't be able to fuck that up Right? Wrong.

How about Richman, Richmand, Whickmun, Witchmann, Wickum, Whickum. I get them all.

I've gotten to the point that I answer to anything (and I mean anything) as long as I know someone is talking to me. Even something as idiotic as "Hay you, you fuck". I'm totally immune to that sort of insult.

My wife has a friend from Germany whose name is Dani. It confuses me a bit, I'm not used to Dani as a girls name. On the other hand one of my female college professors was named Jimmy. (that was her birth name not a nick name).

Oh, well I guess a lot of us have name troubles.

My last name is Gossett ... Like the actor, Lou Gossett Jr.

I am sometimes asked as a joke if I'm related to him (I'm white). A deadpan "Yes, he's my uncle on my mother's side" is a great way to sow bemusement. Smile
