Been a while since I've posted to this. IN short... I've given up on the dobsonian for any sort of astrophotography except lunar stuff. I went to a 72mm astrotech refractor as well as a goto tracking mount. The difference is night and day. Here's some universe for my fellow heathens:

M13 Globular taken with my recently modified Canon 500D

M51

M51 with a lot more red saturation so you can see all the fine details

Sort of hard to see, but this is Jupiter, and visible (lightly though) is the weather bands and one of the moons passing in front in the lower corner.
