RE: NASA rocket exploded.
Was watching it ourselves live. It looked wrong to me from the very moment it started taking off but I wasn't sure why.

Ironically enough hubby did say before the launch "Did you remember the days when rockets used to explode?" and I jokingly replied that I would quote him on that in 10 minutes time.

We tuned in the day before when it was delayed at the very last minute because a boat had strayed into the danger zone.

The speaker sounds sounds so calm.

"Launch team, launch team, be advised, stay your consoles...."

I'm pretty sure I would have used at least one naughty word.

He sounded shocked to me. It was silence for awhile, no crazy commotion or anything. I was almost not sure what I was looking at. It's like, where'd it go?

Yeah I sensed a certain strained shock in his voice that he was very carefully controlling.

Quote:Orbital Sciences Corp.'s Antares rocket blew up over the launch complex at Wallops Island, Virginia, just six seconds after liftoff. The company said everyone at the launch site had been accounted for, and the damage appeared to be limited to the facilities.

So much for the myth that the private sector can do nothing wrong.

I don't understand that myth? I just view private sector as more opportunities, but I don't get how that'd prevent unforeseeable circumstances ever?

Yea it'll happen. "If Obama gave NASA more money this wouldn't be happening! blah blah blah I'm a filthy cunt".

The idea being, I guess, that what's bad for safety is bad for business and so the private sector would be more careful when it comes to safety.
