I should have inserted "violent felons". If someone has robbed a house, or shot someone, or raped, or assaulted someone, they should not be allowed to own a weapon. Perhaps there should be a system, sort of like a parole board, to perhaps grant them that later on--much later on--if it's clear they've reformed. But in general the answer is no.

Thats right a convicted felon found in possession of an AK and a loaded 40 caliber hand gun was set free because of the NRA backed new gun law in La was released from jail because a Judge decided it was unconstitutional to deny him that right under the new statute.
