That would depend. I'm kind to others and very compassionate toward those who are suffering, broken hearted, sick, or suicidal, which is usually not something you would see in a Narcissist. I have a strong conscience and feel extremely guilty when I hurt people which is a nother quality that is far from narcissistic.

I also insult myself quite often and am completely transparent and open about my most despicable flaws which is also the opposite of narcissists who front like they are something they are not. Totally not me. I'm quick to disclose nearly all my personal info.

Most narcissists look for leadership positions. That is NEVER me unless I'm surrounded by retards! Tongue

I'm the opposite of materialistic and give a flying fuck about the clothes I wear and could give a shit if i'm clean shaven or have a nice car or even have a car period. That is also the opposite of narcissism. Appearance is everything to a Narcissist.

There is a range of Narcissism though. I'd not believe it but when the most easy going person you've met online tells you that you are a narcissist, I totally believe it.

The hypersensitivity to criticism is there. Excuses are my best friend.

The self-obsessiveness is there along with daydreaming often about being something else.

Addicted to entertainment, drugs, alcohol, porn and adrenaline.

I leave a trail of wreckage behind me, a history of incarceration, commitment to psyche wards, major drug and alcohol problems, difficulty getting close to people and when I do I fuck it up hardcore.

Major problems if I don't get my way.

Feel entitled to things and that rules don't apply to me. Like being totally okay with shoplifting (but never steal from people personally.)

All of these are indications that a person is a narcissist. And last but not least,
Look at me, I'm an attention whore:

Your dream isn't an uncommon one, nor is your sharing it with her. Her reaction makes me think she was already fed up, and used this, as her way out.

I'm the complete opposite of a narc, and unfortunately wound up marrying one. He made our lives miserable. And he never once admitted to his faults, much less that he was a narc. It was always our fault. You at least can acknowledge it.

Sorry for your loss, but it seems you are using the situation to try and better yourself and your life. Good for you Matt.

Nah, when I have a dream of a family member dying I wake up and wonder if it really happened and sometimes give them a call just to hear their voice. No one ever told me that was an insult.

"He never once admitted his faults". That is the opposite of me. I admit them to a fault.

Yes shit like this as well as every fuck up is an opportunity to grow and learn. Smile

It's good to fuck up online cuz that can help you learn a lesson you don't have to learn by fucking up in real life. Thumbsup

Not necessarily. Narcissists do things because it benefits them, so if caring or being compassionate is done for selfish reasons (ie: "I don't want you to kill yourself because you still owe me $20") than it is narcissistic.

Quote:I have a strong conscience and feel extremely guilty when I hurt people

Again, not necessarily 'non-narcissistic'.
If I hurt someone and that effects our relationship to a point that the relationship stops benefiting me, than I am going to be concerned with hurting you because hurting you hurts me.

Quote: Appearance is everything to a Narcissist.

No it's not. They're not out to impress people.

All of which do not equal narcissism. Yes, some of those are often traits associated with narcissism but they're also traits associated with many personality disorders/other problems. Just because you tick 2 out of 5 boxes doesn't make you are narcissist, especially when the major characteristics of narcissism are not there (self-obsess, don't give a fuck about anyone else etc..)

And narcissists are not "attention whores". Narcissists are often socially awkward actually. They don't require approval from the masses because they have themselves stroking their own ego. They're very internal.

You're not a narcissist, you're just a crappy person.

Lol!

Nah in all seriousness It bothers me to see so many people in pain and agony and it has everything to do with desiring them happiness and relief and hope, but at the same time, when doing a good deed, yes I like it when people see it, but that isn't the reason I care about others and want to help them.
