Need help with converting position coordinates
My neighbor is a lobster fisherman and was kind enough to give me some of his spots. The problem is he gave me coordinates that I can't figure out.

For instance most of my divespots are somewhere in the vicinity of GPS coordinates
N24 52.171' and W080 34.216'

The coordinates he has given me, and that on his chart are not more than a few miles away, are
2456562 and 2921404

I always go to this website http://www.csgnetwork.com/gpscoordconv.html
to do my conversions from GPS, Decimal Degrees and Degrees Minutes Seconds
but in this case his second coordinate position doesn't convert to anything close to W080 XX.XXX Weeping

Can anyone help? Huh

RE: Need help with converting position coordinates
If he had a sense of humor it'd be the coordinates to the grocery store that sell his lobster.

Are these possibly easting and northing coords?

Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.
Science is not a subject, but a method.

I'm not familiar with those, can you convert? Once you do I'll be able to plot and tell you if they are in the vicinity I'm looking in.

My attempts landed me in the middle of southern Egypt...
I some how suspect that you will not be catching lobster there...

You're killing me Laughat
No, it has to fall somewhere off of the Florida Keys, I really do appreciate your efforts though!

***Gotta run for now, hopefully by the time I get back someone will have figured it out and then it'll be Lobster day at my house Cool

Well.. it's in line with Florida, it's just a little far east.

RE: Need help with converting position coordinates
Thought I had it. Ever heard of the UTM Universal Transverse Mercator positioning system?

Mercator divisions

Conversion tool
http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/utm-la..._1370.html

I'm still getting dumped in the middle of the Atlantic...shit

Still stumped with
2456562
2921404
