Little boots? That is what Caligula means. He got that while with his dad as a child on campaign in Germany. If you called him that name as an adult you'd've been tortured and killed.

His name was Gaius Caesar. Later he added Germanicus.

A bit long for a planet.

Also not the guy anyone would really like to commemorate. Rather name it for some mythical person. All the other planets are named that way, although the suggestion for Uranus was "Georgium Sidus" (for George III, King of England at the time) which would have made it the only planet named for an actual person.

Never know what I'm going to learn around here. Thanks Banjo.

Ah the contrast of seeing things here vs seeing them elsewhere on social sites like on sports forums where there you get some folks questioning how it could be possible to measure the gravitational effects of something further than out than Neptune. Hobo

And yet many of those same people believe in astrology.

The most beautiful thing about astrology is that, at any point, astrologers will tell you how accurate they are - even when they're missing whole planets.
(as seen when Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto were discovered and 'incorporated' without anyone giving a shit about the cognitive dissonance, and also the part where most still include Pluto but not the other dwarf planets)

... this is my signature!

Name it Pluto just to mess with the IAU and everybody involved in the is not/is too a planet debate.
