New Texas gun control law allows concealed guns on campus
The title was the headline to the BBC article.

Just hoping every 21yo permitted concealed carrier is a sane, trained (for use of guns in crowded public places) individual.

Otherwise this is a sign of a sick society getting sicker IMHO.]

[Later correction.] Though I notice most private institutions seem to have opted out.

Tomorrow is precious, don't ruin it by fouling up today.

Yeah - must be a bad idea --- since all those "NO GUNS ALLOWED" signs went up -- there hasn't been ANY problems.....

And why did the signs have to be put in the first place?

And why did the signs have to be put in the first place?

Because people fear what they don't know. It's really that simple.

The people who put up such signs are NOT experts in firearm use.

They're people who more likely have never touched a firearm - and are convinced that firearms are capable of leaping up and killing people at random.

These same superstitious, uneducated saps think that by sticking up some totem ---(the "no guns" sign") -- they can make the world a safer place.

That's simply fuckwit stupid.

If someone has nefarious plans to kill, terrorize, or maim others -- they're GOING to do it --- regardless of it being "really, REALLY, illegal".......

All you do with such "gun free zones" -- is disarm the people who willingly obey laws -- the people that are NOT the problem in the first place.

I hope you didn't strain anything stretching like that.

But seriously, you're in favor of MORE guns in schools?

RE: New Texas gun control law allows concealed guns on campus
Past age 10 I usually carried a rifle to the homeschool co-op I went to in Alaska, as did the dozen or so other kids in my class. Back in the public school I went to in Washington they had metal detectors. One of those two contexts was a nice, relaxed learning environment where we'd occasionally go shoot some targets during lunch. The other was a cesspool of gang violence where teachers getting threatened with knives was not unheard of.

Mainstream culture has fucked our schools whether there are guns in them or not. It really doesn't matter either way as far as safety of the students is concerned.
