She actually referred to them as "bombings" as well.

Edit: Skip to 0:29 for the quote.

The difference here, of course, is that she waited to get the facts before referring to them as bombings. Before anyone could/did confirm it was a bomb, he told an audience it was a bomb. Knee-jerk reaction is the last thing we need from a president. One displayed panic, the other gathered intelligence and reported it responsibly. Hmmm...

23rd street, between 6th & 7th - in Chelsea. Fairly downtown residential, these days the pendulum swings a bit upscale but, it has the usual NYC mix of old/young/assorted ethnicity. Pretty area - there's an old flat iron and a park around the corner.

Looks like the bomb was in a dumpster. Maybe someone didn't like homeless people or sanitation workers. Shy

A dumpster doesn't sound like a very good casing for a bomb. More like something for bomb disposal.

The dumpster is just where it was placed. That thing was pretty mangled.
They found another unexploded device a few blocks away but they don't know if the two are connected. That one was a pressure cooker bomb.

Also, earlier ... an explosive device went off in a trashcan, down the coast in New Jersey. They are investigating connections, of course.

If these are terrorists they're not very good ones. Don't seem to understand some basic principles of IEDs.

Meyh - wannabees and/or terrorist-copycats. Drinking Beverage

Still, it's shitty knowing that someone just wants to fuck everything up for everyone else, all because they don't know how to just live life & have a good time.

The late Rodney King understood the helplessness everyone feels when shit like this goes down. Shy

But only one typo away from incitement...
