I'm more concerned about places like Cuba and Haiti. The damage wasn't as widespread as it was in the US, but you guys can probably deal with the damage far easier than other countries.

Thanks. My building shook, but I wasn't scared - I couldn't sleep until after I walked around a couple of blocks after the winds died down at 01:30. I live almost directly across the East River from the Empire State Building, and it was quite a scene to see the Manhattan island half lit. I've toured the lower half, where the lights are out, a couple of times now - quite a sight.

They turned on the World Trade Center construction lights last night - that's good for my morale.

I hope you die peacefullyCool

Yeah, we do; but it is not smooth - tempers will flare, and people will be killed.

So, i'm searching about pumps...
Quote:Developers at the University of West Virginia have developed a $400,000 plug
that could prevent flooding in tunnels but was not in use for Superstorm
Sandy.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/telegraphtv/9...oding.html

Quote: NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- The Port Authority of New York & New
Jersey said Friday the southern tube of the Holland Tunnel has reopened
after Hurricane Sandy, but the agency is only allowing buses to pass
through. The tunnel is open only in the eastbound direction to allow
traffic to enter New York City. "All motorists are urged to avoid
driving unless absolutely necessary," the Port Authority said.
Kind of surprising, because the south tube would seem to fill before the north tube - maybe, they got some pumps a pumping and they pumped the south tube for some reason, or another.

I hope you die peacefullyCool

Dunno why they're getting so excited about that.

The MEANING of life is the experience of living (from Frank Herbert)
The VALUE of life is the legacy we leave behind (from observation)

RE: New York will never be the same
So I hear mayor Bloomberg's strategy for dealing with the next hurricane/flood event is :
1. Put the hospital generators somewhere, other than the basements,
2. "hope there isn't another one".
Alrighty then.

What are you talking about?

Tell me what you think should have been done better?

And, I'll bet, I can recognize the complex system of social organization that concludes that the people that you are going to accuse of being incompetent are competent; and the whiners, who were championed by the media, who you are going to champion as rational, are not.

Unless, of course, you have some really, really, good analysis and estimation of more proper procedures.

You got anything like that, or are you just talking out your ass? Listen to me, Bitch, this city can handle it.

I hope you die peacefullyCool
