New atheist introducing myself :-)
Hey there everybody :-) I'm a new member to the forum and a new atheist. I've been raised as a Christian through my whole life and have been experiencing doubts since I was 16 (21 now). I've been going through some rough patches with sick family,a deceased father,brother I haven't talked to in 10 years,etc. All my family would say is God puts us through these things to show his power. I thought that was the most selfish bullshit I have ever heard in my life. I no longer feel looked out for by a higher being. I look out for my family & friends and they look out for me. I love my family and I haven't yet quite opened up the can of worms about my beliefs. I'm sure I will in time when I am good and ready. Anyway my girlfriend encouraged me to join this forum. I would like to feel apart and join in discussions with fellow thinking minds.

Smart girlfriend. She knows good people when she finds them. Keep her. Bummer about those rough patches. "God is showing his power"? Really? Someone said that to you? I prefer what Nietzsche said, "That which does not kills us makes us stronger", though I grant it's not much of a coping mechanism. How sweet would it be if Nietzsche were still around for our forum? He was an atheist and a nut case, so he'd fit right in. As will you, for one or maybe more of those reasons, so welcome to the forum.

Indeed it does, laddie... indeed it does.
I'm not a massive fan of Maiden, but I do enjoy listening to them from time to time. I appreciate what they do. Anyway, I'm sure you will have a jolly ol' time here.
