Question. If you are an atheist but your girlfriend is catholic, do you wait for her to ask you if you go to church or do you come out and say it?

RE: New relationship
I guess thats fair. I mean shes a reely nice girl, but her parents are "extraordinary ministers of the eucharist", which means they hand out the little jesus wafers at mass. Its not the possibility that she may be put off that scares me, but the reaction of her parents if they they find out.

News is going to get to her parents either way, but telling her beforehand and explaining why (if you're wanting to do that, or maybe not) will give her less grief if her parents ask where you are when all she got from you was a short discourse before she had to go off to church.

You don't have to be honest with her parents Just her. Also depends how much of an atheist you are. If you're a Christian bashin', crucifix choppin' angry youth then they'd be understandably a bit freaked one would imagine. But if she's nice, they're probably nice too - in your shoes I'd probably tell them straight up too.

RE: New relationship
Heheh. Im not much of a crucifix choppin kinda guy so to speak, but yeah i can lay some pretty mean anti religious vents down if i want to. Of course not around people i like though. Oh but her parents.... OH HER PARENTS!!! They make me do rapid fire facepalms when im around them. And my parents are reely toght with them too. My peeps no im an atheist but if they find out i tell someone about it they say im just doing it for attention and im being selfish and stuff like that. Man im in a hole in catholic world over here in eastern PA. Everyone knows everyone, and most of them HATE out atheists. What do i do?
