Newbie to health
Ok, so I just graduated high school last year. I was never much for sports, but I kept myself fit by playing paintball, surfing, snowboarding, and just being fairly active. Although, now that I'm in the "real world" I'm having trouble keeping my activity level up. My job requires me to sit at a desk for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, and by the time I get home the last thing want to do is work out. Over the year off high school I lost my abs, most muscle tone and gained twenty pounds!
Now I'm just getting self conscious and I'm trying to be a little more healthy.
Ie: I'm eating healthier (salads and fruit at work), and eating a lot less (one to three meals day compared to like 6). I'm also trying to do simple workout routines while at work (like push ups off my desk or holding myself above my chair and flex my core and doing leg raises).
I realise I'm not doing much, but this is a lot for me. I was never one for eating healthy or even working out. I kept myself in shape by staying active, which is not too much of an option now.
So I'm starting this slow, hoping to make a habit of being healthy over time. My question is, can anyone give me some pointers? Like stuff that isn't found by googling "health and fitness" lol. Everything is appreciated Smile

RE: Newbie to health
The only thing that has worked for me is to plan my workouts and put them in my calendar. When I incorporate them as something I have to do during the day, it's easier to follow. I treat exercise as work, it needs to be done and I can't afford to slack off.

I assume you're joking, but if not:
Abs is an abbreviation for abdominal muscles. AKA the muscles in front of your stomach.

I suppose you're right. I really should. Just seems like every time I do I'll "start tomorrow" Frusty

If you find that you're too tired at the end of the day for a workout,
how about trying to workout early in the morning?
It gives you extra energy during the day by pumping up your metabolism and heart rate.
