Nigeria – Violence Against Persons Prohibition Bill Becomes Law
http://www.acdhrs.org/2015/06/nigeria-vi...comes-law/

Quote: President Goodluck Jonathan, this afternoon, passed the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) bill into law. The new law prohibits female circumcision or genital mutilation, forceful ejection from home and harmful widowhood practices. It prohibits abandonment of spouse, children and other dependents without sustenance, battery and harmful traditional practices.

Yep, enforcement is going to be a whole other story and will take at least a generation's time me thinks. But the ball has at least started to roll.

We can only hope. I am not that confident though.

NOTE: Member, Tomasia uses this site to slander other individuals. He then later proclaims it a joke, but not in public.
I will call him a liar and a dog here and now.

That just about sums up Africa. Laws don't mean jerk in that part of the world.

t is indeed a start, but to reiterate what others have said, a law without leverage to back it up is just words on a piece of paper. The government needs to retake control of its country if it wants it's laws to be worth anything.

If an extremist is in your face with an AK saying you need to get circumcised, and neither the government nor your fellow citizens have the means to offer you protection, then you're getting circumcised.
