RE: Not sure what I am, but HI! :D
Just wanted to say hello and welcome you here.

As you probably already know this forum isn't just for atheists. You might get some members who will throw biblical stuff at you to 'help' you return to your previous life. Please know there is a block/ignore function if anyone becomes to annoying for you.....Christian, atheist or otherwise.

Sending hugs for all the shit you have been thru. Hug

Welcome.

We all do. It's good to know that it doesn't have to be a lonely road. It's good to have you here for it.

But now I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.

It involves sexual/psychological abuse, rape, manipulation.... and the knowledge that my situation is a bad one, but the ones who did this to me are still being "blessed." I'm trying to keep this abbreviated. I might go into it more in-depth later on.
But is this the kind of thing God rewards??? Other Christians try to reassure me that "oh, he's not blessed trust me. Deep inside, he is truly suffering." BULL CRAP. They also say,"He'll get his, don't worry." While that might seem more reasonable, will this "getting his" come in the form of some generic illness that could happen to anyone? Will this "getting his" come AFTER DEATH after he's lived his life of smug victory? He AND the church that promoted him to deacon, AND the ministry he currently is a board member of. AND that pastor that told me it was better that my husband did that than for him to have fallen into sin (porn). So raping your wife isn't sin, but it IS an acceptable preventative! Well that's news!

Also (just a random Bible gripe) one of the listed abominations is hands that shed innocent blood. If this is so, think of all the innocent whose blood was shed in any number of plagues and God-ordered battles where innocents were specifically ordered to be killed.

Ok, I'm about to off on a tirade. I better just cool it.

I have been right exactly where you are. The best advice I can give a person like you is to dive into your bible. Read it. I mean really read it, not just the verses the read in Sunday school. Research the Internet and compare it to verses in your actual bible. What does the bible day about rape? How does God's law say we shoud treat victims of rape? What does the bible say about women? Especially wives. Soak it all in and when you have filled yourself with the bible and realized that it is a story about an evil god who loves you less because he made you a woman. A god who intentionally created you to be less worthy and then placed you here to suffer at his hands, then start questioning his existence. It is a lot easier to escape years of indoctrination after you have read what your own bible really says about god.

RE: Not sure what I am, but HI! :D
This exact thing that you mention is what brings me here. I did just that, and the awkward part is that I was prepping for a debate with someone else on the topic. I had to pull out and conceed that they were right because they were. On one hand it was embarrassing, but they weren't like a hardened opponent or anything, it was just a friendly debate. But the "holy cow, oh no" moment... all this time I'd thought my husband was being unbiblical? no. No he wasn't.
