Nothing is what is inside a hole. Then again, I guess that would be air.

RE: Nothing, doesn't exist
I feel soooo sad now.

For a moment I thought Raptor Jesus was back.

But as if to knock me down, reality came around
And without so much as a mere touch, cut me into little pieces

Everything that exists has properties. If nothing exists, then it has properties.
Please give us some of its properties. Ill make it easy for you: name one property of "nothing".

Alternatively name a property of "dark" or "cold".

RE: Nothing, doesn't exist
On the concept of "nothing", let me toss these two pics into the playpen-
The one on the left is "nothingness", and the one on the right is a typical atom that has appeared in that nothingness.
The big questions are therefore-
1- Did the atom suddenly blink into existence all by itself?
2- Did a "creator" create it?
3- Is it real or just an illusion?
Are there any more possiblities to explain its existence that I may have overlooked?

How do you know that's nothingness? How do you conclude nothingnesses as a concept in reality, what evidences of it existing are knowable?

RE: Nothing, doesn't exist
Nothing DOES exist... Just as god exists... As a concept.

You ever think about the saying "middle of nowhere"? There can be no such place. For nowhere to have a middle, it would need to be defined by the existence of outer limits. The places beyond the outer limits would then define nowhere as somewhere...

RE: Nothing, doesn't exist
Nothingness or illusion, who knows?
There's an old story of a mystic in India who was a member of a cult that believed everything was just an illusion. One day an elephant stampeded, so he ran to get out of the way like everybody else.
They jokingly chided him by asking him why he ran to avoid an "illusion", to which he replied "I only appeared to run".
Deep stuff..Smile

And there was a small piece in Readers Digest a while back about a philosophy lecturer who held up a pencil to the class and said- "I want you to write a philosophical essay on this pencil".
Later he collected their essays and gave top marks to one student whose essay consisted of just two words- "What pencil?".
More deep stuff..Smile
