Nothing original here, but these are my random thoughts.
Lives, no matter how long or how short are a collection of moments.

We hop between these moments using, or at least trying to use reason to examine past ones to predict future ones.

Our memories tend to lump and average out these moments.
Occasionally, a particular moment becomes taller and more noteworthy than the surrounding ones because of something rational people tend to like to ignore or at least say they ignore:Emotions.

The E word is what controls the amplitude of the moments in memory, at least in my memory.
I can't speak for yours.
As we move away from a particular moment the amplitude fades and averages.
Except for the really, really big ones.

Everyone has many really big moments that no matter how long ago they are in our own chronological memory stand taller than those that surround it.
.
Peering back over the collection of moments that have made my life so far, I see the single Eureka moment when the switch got turned on and I realized the fundamental truth of my existence.
I was, am and in all probability will be an Atheist.

Hmm, theists have their "epiphanies," atheists have their "eurekas"!

Or "insights," which are dodgy things for theists. Smile

Emotional memory, is a double edged faculty, from the cringing to the celebratory.

Will meditate (over a cuppa) on this.

Tomorrow is precious, don't ruin it by fouling up today.

And then there are moments when the emotions are too disturbing to be experienced fully and they get bottled up. They become little time bombs....
