Someone should ask this guy what he thinks of the founding fathers, specifically Thomas Jefferson.

If we came from dust, then why is there still dust?

Sadly, this is not a new idea.
Several counties in (you guessed it) Florida, have stopped doing courthouse weddings of any kind.

Now we have a dweeb in Oklahoma wanting to spread it around.

Just what the U.S. needs, more of the religious rights' bullshit clogging up the legal system at huge expense.
We're drowning in assholes!

Funny how most of those counties are the ones directly under Alabama. Then as soon as you cross over into the states that are under Georgia, the number of crazy people seems to drop dramatically. For some reason it picks back up on the east coast, though. Maybe those people are just mad at all the hurricanes, and they're taking out their frustration on the gays.

Then you've got Pasco County all by itself; I'd imagine the people there think they're the last bastion of moral values in a state full of hell-bound sinners, and they're clinging desperately onto any shred of bigotry they can muster, watching diligently from the small windows of their hermit holes for any sign of Jesus's imminent return. Those guys must be fun at parties.

If we came from dust, then why is there still dust?

I suppose the next move will be a push to make it illegal for a private citizen to perform marriages.
Get married in a church or nothing!
The lengths the faithful will go to so they can dictate how others live their lives is astounding. It's bullying on a national scale, and they're the ones pleading oppression.

RE: OK, this is NOT ok.
I wish both sides would meet in the middle.

Let gays get married, but don't force religious business owners to make gay wedding cakes or supply flowers to gay weddings.

I understand both sides, and both sides go to the extreme to get their way.

RE: OK, this is NOT ok.
There is a simpler, and better way.

Remove the legal status of marriage.

We no longer use baptismal records as a form of legal identification (it used to be they were).

Why are we still recognizing an outdated concept that is based in religion?

"Traditional Marriage" was not about love, not about commitment, not about child rearing ---- it was about property. The bride was "given" to the groom, remember???

The woman could not vote, own property, or make any financial transactions with the consent of her husband. (read - owner).

The fundies of this world would like you to believe otherwise.
