Obama authorizes assasination of US citizen
http://www.salon.com/news/opinion/glenn_...ssinations

Quote:In late January, I wrote about the Obama administration's "presidential assassination program," whereby American citizens are targeted for killings far away from any battlefield, based exclusively on unchecked accusations by the Executive Branch that they're involved in Terrorism. At the time, The Washington Post's Dana Priest had noted deep in a long article that Obama had continued Bush's policy (which Bush never actually implemented) of having the Joint Chiefs of Staff compile "hit lists" of Americans, and Priest suggested that the American-born Islamic cleric Anwar al-Awlaki was on that list. The following week, Obama's Director of National Intelligence, Adm. Dennis Blair, acknowledged in Congressional testimony that the administration reserves the "right" to carry out such assassinations.

Highly doubtful. The article source, Salon, isn't exactly on par with say the NY Times.

Whereas EO 12333Then again, it is the Government. And with a history of testing on service personnel, etc... that pesky "Plausible denyability" gives a lot of leeway, between what isn't by law and what happens by omission.

Did you read the article? Salon posted its sources; both the NY Times and Washington Post

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/07/world/...ml?_r=1&hp

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/con...id=topnews

"Today, both The New York Times and The Washington Post confirm that the Obama White House has now expressly authorized the CIA to kill al-Alwaki no matter where he is found, no matter his distance from a battlefield. I wrote at length about the extreme dangers and lawlessness of allowing the Executive Branch the power to murder U.S. citizens far away from a battlefield (i.e., while they're sleeping, at home, with their children, etc.) and with no due process of any kind. I won't repeat those arguments -- they're here and here -- but I do want to highlight how unbelievably Orwellian and tyrannical this is in light of these new articles today."

That's bullshit on so many levels.
Obama promised to take away many of the crappy policies Bush brought into office.

Nope. In fact he extended it, along with the democratically controlled congress (at the time).

Obama has been an embarrassment to the liberals and civil libertarians (like me) who voted for him. He's exactly what I expected so I can't say I'm disappointed but I am just a little surprised at how much of a sell out he's proven to be.

And, as for voting for him, in my defense I couldn't bear to be in any way responsible for Palin being the VP to a 70+ year old cancer survivor.

There's more than two candidates. More than two parties.

Pass it on.

I usually vote 3rd party when I can. Sometimes it's not an option. In both 2000 and 2004 I voted Libertarian. In 2008 the Libertarian candidate was Bob Barr. If you put a gun to my head and told me to vote for Bob Barr, I'd probably dare you to shoot. And if was going to win the Presidency, I'd beg you to shoot. So, that was just not an option for me in 2008. And, I did not feel like voting Socialist because I don't believe in it.

I said this in another thread and I'll repeat it here: in 2012 I'm voting for Bruce Springsteen. Just because.

Springsteen is running? or are you planning to just right it on the ballot real big and expect them to accept that as other?

I'm not a non believer, I believe in the possibility of anything. I just don't let the actuality of something be determined by a 3rd party.

You can do write-ins for elections. I've never done it, but I'll be voting for The Boss in 2012.
