RE: Oh, FFS. A Falwell?
I just now read that too. Holy shit. Facepalm

I'm pretty sure Barry Goldwater was speaking about Jerry Falwell's father (Jerry Falwell Sr) when he made this statement in the early 1990's.

“Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the [Republican] party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them.”

As insane as this sounds, given the choice, I'd vote for Barry Goldwater waaaaay before I'd ever vote for trump.

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.

I hope he does appoint him.
If you're going full retard, why not do it up right and really go whole hog.
The worse it gets, the better the insurance he will never get reelected.

If I didn't have two kids who'd be entering into the fucked education system he will leave in his wake, I'd say the same thing. But I'm not willing to bargain on such bullshit

RE: Oh, FFS. A Falwell?
Is Trump playing some kind of game right now to make himself look comparatively good when he backs away from the wingnuttery, or is he just being lazy and letting the Christian right walk all over him? Either way, Trump is lying out his ass about his religious beliefs, and his hardcore fans are somehow buying into it. It's pathetic to watch.

Here's what I think is the most likely motivation behind Trump's actions:
He knows that the GOP is more likely to grant him corporate favors for his own company, so he wants to prop them up and give them as much power as possible.

If we came from dust, then why is there still dust?

The pendulum is swinging so far to the left under trump that there will probably be a reaction to this farce.

I have the names and phone numbers of my 2 Senators and my congressman and tomorrow I'm going to phone them up. I'm trying to think what exactly I want to say. If you have suggestions BeardedDude, let me know. Of course I realize that I'll be talking to a intern or unpaid volunteer but that's to be expected.

I've never done anything like this before, phoning my Senators. I'm pretty shy about such things but I can't just sit and do nothing. Every little thing helps.

What should I say? I gotta write it all down before I call.

I've been at all three legs of the educational seat- student, parent and then teacher. That seat has to have all three legs to keep from tipping over. If the parents aren't involved, the best of intentions by a teacher will amount to little. If they do care, and the teachers are shit, it's also a problem. Kids in general would do well if the parents and the teachers were good, since they are young and impressionable. What I am getting at here is that your leadership and parenting will help your prospective(?) children get a decent education. Maybe this helps, maybe not.

Well, if he was appointed I'd switch to agree with the Ole Texas conservative and libertarian types and demand they abolish the administration and divvy up its tasks to states.

There will be huge resistance to anything a "Falwell" would try to do.
He can't teach Creatardism in the public schools.
I think this sort of stupidity will make people realize what they voted for.

Don't underestimate the power of the Creatards. Sad They are a big part of how the chump gained that office.
