On this day in 1859
Charles Darwin published "On the origin of species by means of natural selection."

But some people are still stuck in the 50's.

The 1850's...

Also on Sept. 1-2 of that year was the Carrington event. Some scientists estimated that if it happened today it would do .6 to 2.6 trillion dollars worth of damage in the U.S. alone. I heard a while back on the radio that there was a solar flare in July of 2013 that would have been much worse than the Carrington event but it missed the Earth Luckily.
