One Bernie supporter to others OP/ED
RationalPoet....... I voted for Bernie too, but most certainly WILL vote for Hillary. There is too much at stake to allow as Obama aptly put it describing Trump as a "homegrown demagogue" to be in the Oval Office. If anyone wants to get stuck on Hillary, remember Nixon broke the law in a far worse manor. Reagan as well with Iran/Contra with several of his supporters convicted. And Bush Jr started two failed wars, one based on a blatant lie, which caused countless military and civilian lives. And Bush had far more attacks on diplomatic outposts with far more deaths. You can point to Hillary's problems all you want, but knowing how Obama was attacked even before he took office I have no doubt the same level of vitriol would be aimed at Bernie if he had won instead, but simply with different language. Bernie, has said Hillary would STILL be 1,000 times better than Trump, even on her worst day. And I cannot see how you can claim to support him, which I do myself, watch the convention knowing he sat through the vote count and graciously conceded to Hillary and threw his full support behind her, the same convention that had Obama and Michelle support her. Bernie knows and accepts what is at stake, which is why he did what he did and he is right to do so. A Trump presidency would allow him control of a majority congress and Supreme Court picks. That would mean attacks on women's rights, attacks on LGBTQ rights, overturning the ACA, overturning Roe V Wade, more gerrymandering discrimination against minority voters............ But the worst part of Trump's nomination is not just the possibility of undoing social progress, no, it is Trump's political demagoguery which is a carbon copy of WW2 Germany. His pandering to the segregation of the Jim Crow era refusing to condemn bigots is horrible. His pandering to the Cold War McCarthyism is also vile. Trump has gone way beyond the political muckraking that has existed since the founding. He has called Mexicans rapists, made fun of a disabled reporter, called captured Veterans losers, praised Putin and thinks we should mimic the brutality of Saddam as well as being endorsed by North Korea. Trump is a textbook narcissist and sociopath opportunist. Now is not the time for progressives to be divided. I think it is important to keep in mind this quote from a founder, "We must, indeed, all hang together, or most assuredly we shall all hang separately." Benjamin Franklin.

RE: One Bernie supporter to others OP/ED
I think ultimately she is the lessor evil. I can't prove that and he's such an unknown it's hard to predict. But, I grew up in central New Jersey, in an area that was considered part of the NYC suburbs, and as such I'm very familiar with Donald Trump. He was a staple in media in the 80s. I'm well informed on the more lurid stories, and I'm not even talking the salacious sex stuff. His ties to the mafia, how he continually screwed and even bankrupted local businesses and contractors throughout the state while building his casinos. I'm well versed in the kind of person he is. If you think he's in this to help anyone except himself, you need to do some homework on who he really is.

I will never vote for that scumbag. I'm basically a man without a candidate in this election.

Exactly. I might not be totally onboard with Hilary, but I do recognize that:
1) Trump will fuck us, totally
2) The third party candidates are both fucking crazy
3) Hilary is qualified, I just don't agree with her on every issue
4) Bernie is supporting her and I don't think he would endorse or support her if he believed she weren't qualified. So if I am on-board with his reasonings and opinions as a candidate, I should at least consider his opinion on Hilary.

Sure, that too, yep. But that's more to the GOP, Mein Drumpf is simply the head of the flooded gun party. My apologies, didn't mean to disappoint you.

Yep Trump's party panders to worshipers who treat a mere object as if it were living and human with rights.

Keep forgetting that there is no political party oath to own a firearm and that liberals own them too. Keep forgetting that any other product made is subject to laws that keep up with changing technology. Ignore the the words "well regulated" to which today, is now our National Guard, not intended that individuals could play Dirty Harry solo. Forget that the Dallas cops and Mayor said that the open carry morons slowed them down because they had to figure out who the good guys were, the same idiots who claim the weapons were to defend themselves, but when faced with that real situation, DID NOT use them because they didn't want cops to mistake them for the bad guys. NO SHIT, which makes the entire point of having them pointless.

There is so much fucking hypocrisy coming from the right, and gun nuts. They point to Islam an rightfully bitch about their blind worship of a book and using weapons to protect that book. They claim they want cops protected, then when liberals like me agree, run from their own claim.

Yep, fear and paranoia, mixed with weapons, the same bullshit we rightfully bitch about the theocracies of the Middle East.

Nope sorry, if you are honest, just say "I want my guns", that part I would believe, but no, with the amount of gun deaths, which are mostly in the home regardless, compiled with mass shootings, I really don't want to hear any bullshit claim that you really care about reducing gun violence.
