RE: One Reason I Love Canada
My Canadian relatives love the health care system. They live in a variety of places; from Toronto to middle-of-nowhere Saskatchewan. My uncle jokes about once having to wait 45 minutes to see a doctor and then having to wait a whole afternoon to see a specialist (the same day.) Tongue

Canada doesn't have a middle of nowhere. We have the greatest backyard on the planet.

Agreed! Although some backyards are better than others (I went from having the Rockies in my backyard to endless fields of nothingness that is the Canadian prairies.... o.0)

Anyways, I quite like the health care system that we have; as a student I also have the choice of having additional dental/pharmaceutical care through university AND through my parents' work plan (though there is a charge for uni health care) I can go see a doctor once a year for a check-up/pap free of charge, which ensures that any possible abnormalities/cancers are detected early (which I am quite grateful for, considering breast cancer runs in my mom's family).

Finally, I would like to say that in general Canadians are fairly tolerant people (some might argue, too tolerant Tongue). I remember in an Education class that I took, we had a discussion about the place of religion in schools, and though there were both religious and non-religious students in the class, we managed to have a civilised, educated discussion about student's rights to be religious vs their rights to be free from religion.

Doesn't change my opinion; I've encountered religious people in southern Alberta. Whereabouts in Canada are you from?

Religious freedom and tolerance in Canada is very nice, I agree.
I've felt very fortunate to have grown up here after reading some
of your "coming out" as an atheist stories. BC could use some work
in the other departments, though. British Columbia has the lowest
minimum wage in Canada at $8.00/hour and we pay 12% tax on almost
everything (excluding books, motor oil, most groceries; in which we
only pay 5% on). Not to mention housing prices are ridiculously high
in British Columbia, the highest in Canada.

At the moment, yes. As soon as I'm done my degree, I'm outta here! The nothingness is too eerie o.0

I am in Gra Pra right now. I hate AB... Kind of for the same reason. The people are not that great either, even though I'm an E-town child.
