Optomistic Agnostic looking for lively debate
Hello everyone,

A hot friend of mine referred me to this site, Phoenix31. Hopefully there are more hot women who like glazed donuts on here. Hobo She's new also so this should be fun. I use to be a part of a site called http://www.theravingsatheist.com That was when I was green behind the ears and rebelling against religion. I lean towards natural theology but for pragmatic reasons. And by pragmatism I mean William James' pragmatism. Plato, Aristotle, Thomas Reid, and William James are some of my influences. I majored in philosophy and psychology in college so, not to brag, but I'm totally useless. Smartass

In my spare time I write. I wrote a book recently. Its a philosophical novel I attempted that is in the same genre as sophie's world. However, the meta story is mythic greek and it deals with the greek world. So Herodotus, the great play wrights, homer, Hesiod, Plato and Aristotle are present. I wrote 30% on the second part already but I abandoned it for a sci fi dystopian book idea. I'm still completing the outline.

In philosophy I focused on philosophy of mind and philosophy of psychology. I had to take a ton of cognitive neuroscience courses even though I still have a sense of wonder about the metaphysics of the mind... if there is one. Angel

Welp, here's to meeting people and hoping to gain a little friction to warm the brain cells!

Welcome to our community. Glad to have you.

(We don't allow debate in this section this is just to say hi.)

But as if to knock me down, reality came around
And without so much as a mere touch, cut me into little pieces

Hi! Tried reading Sophie's World. Didn't finish it (the philosophy parts were interesting, the rest of the story - not so much. And I'm not the most persistent of people anyway. Moved onto hard science fiction.)

Anyhoooo... welcome Yes

As for the hot women, if nothing else, at least we have the music Rolleyes

"Well never mind,
we are ugly but we have the music"

(also, you might need an OPTImetrist Tongue . Sorry, can't help myself sometimes.)

Welcome.

I notice you don't mention any modern, working philosophers.
We have advanced well beyond the ancients.

Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.
Science is not a subject, but a method.

I heard about an optimistic person once.
I think she was Roseann Rosannadana's optimistic aunt, Polyanna Roseannadanna.
