Oroville Dam
(CNN)At least 188,000 people have evacuated from several Northern California counties after damage to a spillway at the Oroville Dam.

The dam, which is the nation's tallest, remains intact. But the emergency spillway, which guards against the overflow of the dam when water levels are high, was eroding Sunday.

RE: Oroville Dam
One must consider where one is to live in order to avoid as much danger as possible. Living below the flood line of a dam if it ruptures (or even if the spillway leaks, as here) isn't one of the places I'd choose.

That is definitely a precarious situation. Sad

I actually saw people using this as political fodder - as in, Good, let those California liberals drown.
Nice.

Speaking of dams and deluges, if we think ISIS is the biggest problem in IRAQ, we may be mistaken. If (rather "when") the Mosul damn collapses, a million people could die.

We have friends that live near there and yes, they posted on fb that they were being evacuated.

Two of their friends made liberal California jokes (at least we hope they were jokes).

Nice.

Except that many of the people living in that area aren't all liberal in fact many are of the more conservative types.

Weird huh?

That much water letting loose all at once is terrifying to me.

Sadly, facts don't matter anymore.

In all seriousness, I hope your friends are okay.
