Photo Outed Saudi Arabian Ex-Muslim Needs Advice. Urgent.
Hi there fellow heathens Evil_monster, I'm a teacher at an international school and tonight I was contacted by a Saudi Arabian former student of mine who is an ex-Muslim. His parents found out this week and have tossed him out on the street. He's TERRIFIED that if his family goes to the police he'll be thrown in prison as well and maybe executed!
As you might know, leaving Islam is considered a severe crime in Saudi and is punishable by death.

Right now he has his own money and he's okay and hiding out in hotels, but he has no idea what he can do next to escape. Any PRACTICAL advice you can share would be very appreciated!
Take it from me, he's a great guy and doesn't deserve this inhumane treatment!

Kind regards,
Sebastian

Not directly but these guys might be a place to start.

Seth covered them in a podcast and even though they target North Americans they are used to dealing with distress calls from non-US people.

Practical advice: Tell him to get a passport.

Is he old enough that he can leave the country and seek asylum?

Yep, he's in his 20s. I've asked him to check for any embassies that could possibly grant him asylum. I hope he follows my advice.

Canada, New Zealand and the Scandinavian countries would be at the top of my list.

Depending on the circumstances, his acting skills, and his tolerance for religious BS he might want to find a sympathetic imam and explain that his parents have it all wrong. "Repent" and all that nonsense.

UPDATE: 24 SEP:
Well, just a quick update on the situation. Unfortunately Abdul has been under arrest since a few days ago, where he has informed me that the police threatened to kill him if he didn't 'repent for his crimes against Islam'.
His formal courtroom trial was held earlier today but I've heard nothing at all from him yet so I've got no idea what the final outcome is.

From what I've been told his own father testified AGAINST him and he wasn't even allowed a lawyer for defence, so the odds of him winning are slim to none. He'll likely 'repent' and escape execution but a prison sentence will still be given to him.

To think...all of this sickening BULLSHIT for the 'crime' of just changing his mind about religion!

UPDATE 25 SEP:
Hi guys I've got some good(ish) news Undecided
After defending himself well enough (he basically told them what they wanted hear: that he's terribly repentant and is willing to return to Islam. Also he was able to show that he never tried to convert anyone away from the religion before) he's managed to dodge serious punishment, but he's still going to be put in prison for a month and be grilled by priests until he's 'reconverted'. After release he'll be watched like a hawk by the police, who have already made threats on his life
.
Once all this is said and done he's lost his job, will have a permanent criminal record on his name and has been entirely disowned by his family...and he's one of the lucky ones Angry other Saudi ex-muslims have gotten it worse.

I'll say it again: ALL OF THIS STUPID FUCKING BULLSHIT SIMPLY BECAUSE HE CHANGED HIS MIND ABOUT THE RELIGION HE WAS BORN INTO!! Angry
