Losing weight is fundamentally simple: calories in, calories out. Which is greater?

I already said the fad at least has some positive elements. But those are precisely the non-fad parts of it.

So wait, it is only calories?

Yes.

Yes.

So I can lose weight by eating ice cream and candy only if I eat the right calories.

You would be malnourished but yes, losing weight is a mathematical equation Calories in < Calories Out.

So what about building muscle at the same time.

Actually to build muscle you want lean protein and carbs before a workout. Long distance runners (marathoners) usually carb binge right before a race to give themselves the fuel to burn over a long race.

So can I get carbs from meat and potatoes?

No. That would be protein and starch.

Ok well there you go. Pasta is also a good source of carbs, whole grain are probably the most healthy.

RE: Paleo Diet Debunked
Paleo, it's true. If you want to lose weight it's all about calories. If you want to be healthy you need a well rounded diet. Everything in moderation. If you want to lose weight and gain muscle you need a low calorie diet that's high in protein. It helps to have your biggest boost of protein right after a workout to help rebuild muscle tissue. Thumbsup

I hope that the world turns, and things get better. But what I hope most of all is that you understand what I mean when I tell you that, even though I do not know you, and even though I may never meet you, laugh with you, cry with you, or kiss you, I love you. With all my heart, I love you. - V for Vendetta
