RE: Pay to play
Let's face it, government is bought and sold. Lobbyists and special interests run this country. I am sure there are some politicians who start with good intentions, but they are all too often blocked by big money.

This shouldn't be a surprise to you guys.
I mean when you have such a broken system as yours that allows politicians to actually know who is donating money, of course, you're going to get this "buy off" effect.
And asking the body that benefits most from it, government, to fix it is delusional.

Apparently this is just the tip of the iceberg. The related emails will be released in the weeks to come.

This is par for the course. It has happened throughout history in every government everywhere.

I think it was known there was sketchy ambassador hearings, i recall there being a Sweden or some Scandinavian region one and a south American one being questioned at the time.

Your post cites Real Clear, which used old data and outdated polls for its average. The Washington Post poll was released Sept. 12 and the RC average used the Post poll from last week. It's outdated.

A good governance system should have elements of Fairness, Accountability and Transparency.

The US system is fair because everyone does the same thing, hence Girly's reaction:

The lack of Accountability is what pisses people off.

E.g. Wasserman Schultz is rewarded for successfully navigating the established shipping route rather than punished for cheating the electorate.

There is no iceberg anywhere. The behavior is universal because humans are pretty much the same everywhere.
