(And to an extent, I can relate to some of the atheists in this thread; the way I make sure my thanatophobia is held in check is to not think too much about death or the concept of eternity, because otherwise my religious beliefs and my analytical part of my brain are going to get into a brawl that leaves me absolutely terrified, crying, and curled up on my couch.)

wait... you're a theist???

Cosmic Raven gets the e-cookie! But not the Death Cookie, as Jack Chick calls the Eucharist. Tongue (Somehow I doubt CR minds that as an atheist.)

And thanks for saying I seem normal? It's funny, you're the third person on this forum to express surprise that I'm not an atheist lol, though i think the only one who welcomed me when I joined, who has done so. FWIW, we agree on far more than we disagree on.

Need to think of a witty signature.

Welcome to the forum, I hope your experience here proves to be an educative one.

Hi! Welcome to the forum.

If you're truly interested in what makes us tick them I'd reccomend quietly lurking or at least avoiding the Atheism and Theism section. There are entire division to this forum that have nothing to do with belief or religion where a clever mind can glean all sorts of insights. And good cookie recipes too.

If you feel the need to start a thread make sure to take care. As a believer you're going to get a lot of replies and if you start things poorly some of those will be less than considerate. One-on-one, either in "The Boxing Ring" (Less bloody than it sounds. Honestly.) or by PM is probably a better bet than a brawl in open forum.

Either way, I hope you enjoy yourself.

Prior to realizing that there is a God in my life, I found myself addicted to pornography & demeaning women, being angry/stressed all the time, spending my free time buying car parts for hot rods, worrying about physical/emotional pain, etc. Are atheists generally happy with their lives?

Atheists are individuals like all humans. Some are happy, some are not. They have various hobbies, they have families, they love people, they do good deeds, they are and do everything that other humans do.

Too bad you made such poor choices, and had so little good adult example.

What would you call the non-believer physician or nurse who works far beyond the hours they have assigned to them, checking on their patients two and three times their assignments, making sure they are not in pain, and comfortable ? Cuz I see at least 5 of them every day ?

Theists have no corner on doing good. But if your personal experience is so out of control, and all you were taught and was exposed to, was selfishness, no wonder you need your Jebus to keep you in line.

Insufferable know-it-all.Einstein God has a plan for us. Please stop screwing it up with your prayers.

RE: Peace
What's your denomination?

Do you believe in election or free will?

What is your eschatological view?

What is your view on origins (ie - YEC, OEC, TE, EC, etc)?
