I was being passive aggressive. I just can't be nice sometimes. Dodgy

I fart in your general direction!

How do I cope?

I was never really a theist to begin with. Hard to lose hope in something which you never placed much stock in to begin with.

8 posts, eh?

Well... he lasted 7 posts longer than 90% of the drive-by theists. Gotta give him that.

My apologies for being a bit snappish. Shouldn't have been.

Need to think of a witty signature.

It's all good, brotha. I'm pretty sure the fault is mine and not yours.

While I'm here, apologies to the mods as well, didn't think I might be increasing your workload, and will think before posting a little tighter next time.

I strongly reject this viewpoint. For example, according to the 2011 Australian Census, 22.3% of the population described themselves as "no religion" (largely atheists and agnostics). So it's self-evident that only a possible two-thirds of our population worship something—presumably a god?

Quote:So I would like to know how the atheist spends their time every day.
I'd imagine in much the same way as most Christians. Working, family holidays, sports and hobbies, watching TV, dining out, reading, playing video games, an occasional bit of horizontal dancing. The only real difference between you and me—and other atheists—is that I believe in one less god than you do. No big deal.

Quote:Prior to realizing that there is a God in my life, I found myself addicted to pornography & demeaning women, being angry/stressed all the time, spending my free time buying car parts for hot rods, worrying about physical/emotional pain, etc.
Those are not issues caused by a lack of religious faith. They're caused by a lack of faith in oneself. And I'm not sure what's wrong with buying hot rod parts if that's your hobby? And come to think of it, there's nothing intrinsically wrong with pornography (of a non-violent sort).

Quote:Are atheists generally happy with their lives?
Of course. Why shouldn't we be? At least we're not constantly worrying about some judgemental sky-daddy looking over our shoulders and marking off our pluses and minuses in his ledger LOL.

I'm a creationist... I believe that man created God.

G'day, and welcome to the forums, from Downunder. Smile

Your presumption that atheists have lost "hope in God" is without any basis in fact. Most of us—as thinking adults—never had any belief in supernatural entities such as gods in the first place.

Can I ask you why you've chosen to deny the existence of every one of the other purported gods? The ancient Hittites had around 1000 gods alone, and the Hindus currently have around 300 gods—although according to Hinduism, their scriptures propose 320 million gods. Why is your god then the only "legitimate" one?

I'm a creationist... I believe that man created God.

I have never really found God - and in desperation sometimes I have 'prayed' (begged) for 'help' (mercy). If you haven't wondered - as a Christian - at how brutal life can be and why on earth we were put here in the first place, by a creator, to go through all this crap. And then we still have to plead for a break and worship God - the creator, who got the ball rolling ... I have difficulty with this.

I also have difficulty with the way the so-called (without being insulting to you), word of God is open to interpretation. That is a major flaw in the thinking of the Creator of the Universe. I mean surely an all knowing being would know that these crazy interpretations would eventually happen. I mean - I/me - would know that this would happen ...

I sometimes think to myself - 'I wonder if some Christians dream about what car Jesus would have driven if he was around' ...THAT is how bad it has become - and I know you will say - that is the work of Satan. Come on. In my mind an all-knowing creator would flick Satan off his shirt sleeve.

BTW my life has not been a grim roller coaster ride entirely. I just have my eyes open - and see what is happening around me.
