As opposed to what? Groveling?

I can’t talk for anyone other than myself, but I’m happier than a Catholic priest at a Boy Scout jamboree.

RE: Peace
I didn't choose to. Lack of evidence and quashing of my questions since early childhood chose for me. It was actually painful, but I chose painful reality over blissful ignorance when they options were laid out.

I have never really found God - and in desperation sometimes I have 'prayed' (begged) for 'help' (mercy). If you haven't wondered - as a Christian - at how brutal life can be and why on earth we were put here in the first place, by a creator, to go through all this crap. And then we still have to plead for a break and worship God - the creator, who got the ball rolling ... I have difficulty with this.

I also have difficulty with the way the so-called (without being insulting to you), word of God is open to interpretation. That is a major flaw in the thinking of the Creator of the Universe. I mean surely an all knowing being would know that these crazy interpretations would eventually happen. I mean - I/me - would know that this would happen ...

I sometimes think to myself - 'I wonder if some Christians dream about what car Jesus would have driven if he was around' ...THAT is how bad it has become - and I know you will say - that is the work of Satan. Come on. In my mind an all-knowing creator would flick Satan off his shirt sleeve.

BTW my life has not been a grim roller coaster ride entirely. I just have my eyes open - and see what is happening around me.

I agree with you that there are many persons whose brains seem to be wired so that they have to believe in some God or other, but many of us have reached the next level and become free f that primitive need. Try it you'll like it!

Welcome.

The removal of the blindfold of faith is quite enlightening.

With reliable forms of reasoning comes the capability of crafting conditions that enable people to navigate life's obstacles. By using a more reliable form of reasoning, people are more capable of bringing about conditions that enable them to flourish.

To argue that people need faith is to abandon hope, and to condescend and accuse the faithful of being incapable of understanding the importance of reason and rationality. There are better and worse ways to come to terms with death, to find strength during times of personal crisis, to make meaning and purpose in our lives, to interpret our sense of awe and wonder, and to contribute to human well-being...and the faithful are completely capable of understanding and achieving this..if they would only try.

"Belief is so often the death of reason" - Qyburn, Game of Thrones

"The Christian community continues to exist because the conclusions of the critical study of the Bible are largely withheld from them." -Hans Conzelmann (1915-1989)

Aha. Another one who made bad choices, and needed an existential prod to stop what he already knew he thought he should not be doing .... because now he gets the 'heaven sucker' in the end, or no reward. It seems, that since US prisons are full (beyond what would be statistically expected with Christians), the real question is what are YOU doing all day ? We've have quite a few of you people.

Go to CatholicAnswers and look at ALL the neurotics and people with "scrupulosity". THEY certainly are not happy with their lives.

Insufferable know-it-all.Einstein God has a plan for us. Please stop screwing it up with your prayers.
