Personal Identification Implants. OK to require?
Just for fun let's talk about this.

How would you feel if the government (of wherever you live) required an ID chip be surgically "installed" at birth? (Or installed at the time of immigration)

Let's say the chip at least did the following:
-Could identify you in a similar way that a Social Security Number can in the US.
-Could be used to locate you at any time via satellite.

What say you?
Yea?
Nay?

How come?

Note that I'm more interested in if you like it in principal than how realistic/practical it would be to implement it. But feel free to offer any form of input Smile.

I prefer fantasy, but I have to live in reality.

I have very little problem with it...at face value. If it was secure and couldn't compromise your safety then I would be okay with it. I suspect I'm in the minority though. I'd probably be between strong like and weak like.

Also we'd have to be sure a transmitter implanted into a person their whole life wouldn't cause cancer or any type of interference with cell phone/wifi/radio.

Would help usher in the new world order a bit quicker Laughat

Allegedly Aron Russo knew one of the rockefellers and implanting RFID chips is their long term plan.

RE: Personal Identification Implants. OK to require?
NO.

1. It would take the first person to do it about 2 seconds to figure out how to hack the system and start collecting personal ID information.
2. It isn't anyone's damn business where I am 24 hours a day.
3. I've probably chipped 300 dogs. They didn't like it, and I have no desire to be stuck myself with a 12 gauge needle.

They will need something anyway once they usher in the cashless society.

I'm indifferent. I used to care but societys apathy has wore me down.

RE: Personal Identification Implants. OK to require?
If the number were only ever passed around in an encrypted form and only used as an ID, without the GPS capabilities, then I wouldn't have too much of a problem with it. I'd hover between weak dislike and indifferent.

However, if it were like a SS#, lazily misused and passed around in plaintext form, "very strong dislike."

but yeah, like Popeye's Pappy said, considering how difficult it is to properly secure this type of thing, especially if it's left up to individual companies to form their own implementation for encryption, then I highly doubt I'd ever trust it.

If we came from dust, then why is there still dust?

In principle it wouldn't matter much, although I guess the purpose becomes important.

In practice it's a logistical and security nightmare, even leaving aside any other concerns.

Of course. When I think "trustworthy sources corresponding to reality", I think infowars.
Dodgy

But seriously, the conspiracists have been saying that since computers were invented. What's the hold-up all ready?
