Pet Theories?
I know it may sound stupid, but I was curious if anybody on here has their own pet theories and if they'd like to share them. Occasionally I'll have wandering thoughts about life and the universe but none of that really manifests into any "pet" theories. I find hearing others ideas to be fun - especially when I can steal and patent them for myself (Just kidding). The subject can really range from anything from psychology to science, to psuedoscience, whatever.

Pet theory. Here's mine... People have pets as child substitutes.

(see what I did there?)

You can have a pet as a sexual partner/tool.[Image: quagmire.gif]

RE: Pet Theories?
The only one I ever like to think about is the one about gods trick.

It goes this way see. God gave us brains and rational thought, he gave us logic and science. Then he gave us the bible. A book with almost no logic or rational thought that defies science whenever possible. Then he gave us competing religions all telling us to kill all other religions.

My idea is this, if the god from the bible is real, then he is weeding out the faulty products. Only atheists get in to heaven because we used the gifts given to us.

Here's my pet theory.

I have a really smart dog. I mean, really smart. I'm convinced she's solved the formula for with cold fusion and holds the key to cheap, reliable and non-polluting energy. The only problem is she doesn't know how to tell us because every thing comes out as "ruff!".

That no one can speak "dog" is humanities great tragic loss.

Shackle their minds when they're bent on the cross
When ignorance reigns, life is lost

I have a crackpot theory about ghosts being patterns of light waves traveling through time in a long wave-like pattern of frequency changes. When their frequency happens cross our visible light range, we see a shape.

It's total bollocks but it's mine and I quite like it.

My old Maths teacher asked us to imagine living in a one dimensional world and observing a two dimensional shape passing through it. What would we see? A dot, we said. Then, what would a three dimensional shape in a two dimensional world look like? A line, we said. Then what would a four dimensional shape in a three dimensional world look like? Dunno, we said. I dunno either, he said, let's call it a ghost.

I love quantum immortality for its simultaneous absurdity and plausibility. Big Grin

I find the many worlds interpretation fascinating in general.

I also like thinking, maybe time is purely subjective - the result of the fact that our minds process information based on causality in one particular direction.

All BS of course, but it's still fun to think about. Tongue

RE: Pet Theories?
I am astonished at the number of people who took the title of "pet" theory too literally. (*facepalm) HAHA!

I really wasn't going for dogs or actual pets =p I'm sorry I have to elaborate on that, but I can take a joke. XD!
