Went out in the hopes of photographing the Super Moon behind Alligator Lighthouse but the clouds were on the horizon so I settled for this. Big Grin

Needs more dragons. Yes

Can't you picture them flying out from the horizon under the clouds lit from below by the fires they set in their onslaught?

Good point. In the same vein I thought your super moon photo needed more witches but I didn’t have the heart to tell you. Tongue

Laugh out load I came for the atheism, but stayed because of this kind of banter.

FC, that pic is gorgeous!

Did you use any special equipment for this one?

Nikon D7200, Nikon 200-500mm f/5.6E AF-S VR lens @500mm, f/8, 1/320 sec, ISO 200, on a tripod.

Amazing detail on the moon from beneath an atmosphere. A higher f-stop and ISO might also be intriguing.

I think the lower ISO is better - it is less noisy. With a subject at the distance of the moon (essentially infinity) the f-stop is not very important.
I choose the f-stop to find the optical sweet spot of the lens. For this lens it is somewhere in the f/8 - f/11 range.

Here's my first shot at layering a moon image. It's not very convincing. Dodgy
