Phrased to annoy
You know them, they're everywhere.
"Everything happens for a reason"
"There are no coincidences"
Phrases like these feel like parasites crawling into my ears when I hear them.
Anyone have more you could happily never hear again?

RE: Phrased to annoy
"I'll pray for you"

"god works in mysterious ways"

"we don't know god's plan for us"

"you're going to hell"

"have you heard the good news?"

"what church do you go to?"

"can I come inside and talk to you about your lord and savior jesus christ?"

"it is what it is" (non religious phrase, had to throw one in there...)

"Belief is so often the death of reason" - Qyburn, Game of Thrones

"The Christian community continues to exist because the conclusions of the critical study of the Bible are largely withheld from them." -Hans Conzelmann (1915-1989)

RE: Phrased to annoy
Any phrase that contains something about fate or destiny really tends to bother me. I'm not too bothered by the phrase "everything happens for a reason" because it doesn't have to be understood as fate or destiny. It can be understood realistically and casually.

But some phrases that bother me would consist of "We need to talk." and "Do you want the good news or bad news first" along with the regular "I'll pray for you" or "Please keep so and so's family in your prayers."

Oh and don't forget about "you need jesus." What I NEED is money for college and food.

"I'm sorry, I had to." No, no you didn't.

"God bless *insert person*!"

Any and all phrases including the word "miracle" that are not either mocking or deconstructing it.

"Thank God!"

Popcorn I put more thought into fiction than theists put into reality.

"Thank God..."
"God only knows..."
"It was meant to be."
"I am/feel blessed."

"That moment when..." No matter what follows, it will always be a sentence fragment.

Oh, and replace "Gandalf" for "God."
It's perfect, then.

"Thank Gandalf it's Friday!"
