RE: Phrased to annoy
I use the " what church do you go to?" Question when meeting new people. I live in the Bible Belt so it's a pretty tame and frequent question in this area. It helps me figure out who the theists are and the 'normal' people.
As soon as they say " oh we don't go to church" it's like whew! They passed the first test- now we can get to know each other. Then when I tell them that we don't either I swear you can actually see their body relax. I am assume the same thoughts go thru their head. Lol.

Have a blessed day- grates on my nerves.

God called him home.

God needed him.

Now you have a friend sitting by god's side watching over you.

He's now with (insert dead people's names)

He's in a better place.

God needed another angel.

And countless other things people say to you when someone dies. All my life I lived as atheist and nothing ever much bothered me until my husband died and I had to listen to drivel from everyone I knew and everyone who knew him and everyone who heard about it. I couldn't even buy groceries without someone coming up to me and spouting this crap. I ended up shopping in another town and avoiding people, I just got angry and angrier. They meant well and I was gracious about it, but when I got home I cried in anger and grief and anger.

This is actually what brought me here. Only place I could talk about it without anyone spouting this shit.

My parents died four months apart, I was hearing this stuff for a solid year. It really is maddening.

Dismissing an argument irrationally? How fucking original.

How original that a religious person is so rude. Glad believing in a god has made you so joyful. lol

Your words fall on deaf ears not solely because they are false but because your rudeness intercepts the message.

Yeah. Just as deep as 2 = 2.

Of course, there are people who are surprised by these revelations.

I stay away from people like that when possible.

"Bless your heart"

Why? Bless me for what reasons? Works as well as praying. Something my dad said as we grew up -- Shit happens, life goes on. Why yes, yes it does go on.

And I'll admit, I'm bad about using "It is what it is" but really it is what it is Smile

I tend to ask random questions, sometime stupid ones, but I can almost guarantee I'm smarter for asking than not.
