RE: Pick your funeral song.
I like the idea of playing 'Don't Stop me Now' by Queen. Not to say, "I'm going to a better place and I'll live forever." More to say, "Don't stop thinking of me." And it kinda sums up my personality in life. I would like peple to jam at my funeral.

RE: Pick your funeral song.
Originally I wanted to post something like Bury Them Bones or And We Are Dying , but I suppose people won't be in mood for jokes.
This track has a tune that would make an impression even at a movie about a mafia boss funeral. And this as a final track of an album has quite a finality to it. I've never been fond of lyrics in songs anyway. However I'd turn in my grave if there wasn't an actual DJ set out of my music collection for the whole funeral and afterparty. I've been always devoted to music that reflects my personality. The guests would get to know the goner. "It's just like him... He really liked to force other people listen to his music..." History: a terrible place to live.

RE: Pick your funeral song.
In my case I want my funeral have a song from a genre that held a lot of importance to me during my lifetime--and as per now, I think it should be Bhangra. There are a couple reasons for that; I studied it, teach it, dance it and love it, and secondly I would like to leave everyone with a smile. Life goes on and good memories stay. There are many options but as of now I'll just share one

RE: Pick your funeral song.
Some very nice songs here... Some very unusual ones too.
I tried finding my chosen song on youtube, doesn't exist. Its by a band so obscure that it isn't even on hipster radar. The only place I could find it was here: http://grooveshark.com/#!/s/The+Drowning/3xHHa0?src=5 If anyone bothers to listen to it, and likes it, the band has a whole album with at least 5 or 6 better songs (Shadow, Miles, Creatures, etc.). The Southland - Influence of Geography is definitely my favorite album, has the highest ratio of good/bad songs of any album IMO, and is by far the most obscure band I know of without actually knowing them, or being local. |
