Plane crash in French Alps
A plane, belonging to the German low-cost airline Germanwings, crashed in the French Alps, going from Barcelona to Dusseldorf.

Confused Shocking

142 passengers and 6 crew members. Apparently there might not be survivors (not surprising but still...), although it's not yet confirmed, and the plane crashed from 2,700 meters.

I sure wouldn't bet against terrorism.... The A320 has a stellar record - almost all crashes involving it have been due to pilot error -- with the exception of the Hudson River landing - which was due to the engines ingesting a flock of geese........

Hard to imagine a failure that'd put it down at that altitude.

According to France Info, it was flying too low.

The plane disappeared from the radar at 10:40 AM (5:40 AM EST), so the thing is still fresh.

According to this mornings news - the cockpit voice recorder evidenced that one of the pilots was trying to break down the cockpit door.

Likely - the other pilot decided to kamakazi and didn't care who he took with him.

Good thing everybody went through a metal detector, huh???

Yeah, I've just read that too. Suicide scenarios are going wild. Sounds almost like a movie.

I was coming here to post this exact update.

It's probably too soon, but maybe he did want to commit suicide. I'll be waiting to see further development on the story. Sad

Good thing cockpit entrance has been reinforced to prevent unauthorized entry.

It could well have been a pilot having a heart attack or the like. Let's not jump too hastily to conclusions.

Give me your argument in the form of a published paper, and then we can start to talk.

Apparently the CVR microphone is very good -- the lead investigator said the co-pilot (the kamakazi) was "breathing normally" right up till the point of impact. Also - he programed the dive. So apparently it was a conscious decision to crash the jet.

They seem to point to the co-pilot crashing intentionally. That seems to be where the evidence that they have recovered points to.
