Podcast #180 - Can Atheists Be Republicans? (with CJ Werleman)

Best and worst of Ferdinand .....
Best
Ferdinand: We don't really say 'theist' in Alabama. Here, you're either a Christian, or you're from Afghanistan and we fucking hate you.
Worst
Ferdinand: Everyone from British is so, like, fucking retarded.

SETH: So biased he doesn't even know he is biased.
I'm a huge fan but I have to say that when it comes to politics Seth is so biased he doesn't even know he is biased. His questions were so completely biased against liberals that this show had me rolling my eyes at every biased question.

Can you pull some quotes for us? I haven't watched yet, and won't for awhile.

note: recently I've come to view "liberals" and "progressives" as two different things. Obama is a "liberal", but is republican in everything but rhetoric. No distinction policy wise.

He's an establishment corporate democrat; he's cool with the gays and Wall Street.

Although to be fair, the conservatives have waged an epic smear campaign over the decades to turn Liberal into a dirty word. This is what leads to the polling idiosyncrasies where the majority of people self identify as 'conservative', but on an issue-by-issue questionnaire show themselves to be overwhelmingly liberal (increased social security, support for universal healthcare, better education, less defense spending, getting money out of politics, etc.).

But yeah, I wouldn't consider Obama a liberal or a progressive in any real sense.

What was interesting to me was that the point was not made strongly enough that because of the Tea party influence - Republicans have all but made a conscious effort for it to be impossible to be both Republican and atheist...

From what I see looking down from Canada it seems like you have two parties who agree policy-wise, but such a huge partisan divide that your politicians would rather kill themselves than go along with anything put forward by the other party.

Paleoliberal • English Nationalist • Zionist • Rightist • Anti-Islam • Neoconservative • Republican • Linguistic Revivalist and Purist

Happily Divorced from the Left!

Seth's barn. Seth's rules.

The very fact that he gave that gassy Socialist drongo beyond twelve seconds of air time to bleacher bitch about America was a lavish indulgence that most of Seth's core audience did well to tolerate.

I love Seth, but I won't be insulted like that again. (I kinda heard a plea for a douche and a toothbrush in Seth's voice toward then end of the interview...but probably just my own disgusted projection.)

Poorly enunciated talking points, sanctimonious opinions and wishful thinking on ANY subject is NOT what I tune into Seth's show to hear. Especially from Jafa trash who hates this country sooooo much that he felt he simply must MOVE HERE, SNUG HIMSELF UP TIGHT IN (the 1st, therefore the 2nd, Amendments of) OUR CONSTITUTION AND PROCEED TO PRONOUNCE HOW BACKWARD WE YANKS ARE.

And I must have missed it....WHERE EXACTLY ON HIS "CV" DOES IT SAY "CJ" READ ECONOMICS? (....Didn't see him at OXFORD, darn the luck...he's kinda hawt.)

Out of deference to Seth I gave that slick Roofucker his allotted time to bore me. He can now float back to Bali or whatever backwater sewer from whence he was flushed. CJ Werleman is NO "THINKING atheist".

I gave up a lucrative career with a Republican think tank and changed my affiliation to Libertarian when I saw waaaay too far behind the curtain during the 2008 election cycle. I have a conscience AND I DAMN WELL DO MY HOMEWORK. Mr. Werleman would be MUCH MORE CREDIBLE if he would simply do his due diligence. He can be damn funny until the punchline is factually incorrect.

Until Mr. Whirlygig polishes himself up a bit, he is little more than a poorly stitched, if sadly useful, hand puppet of the very softest of the soft skulled American Left. (Perhaps Seth owed someone a favor?) Let's hope any future Left leaning guest will present a more thoughtful, cogent argument FOR SOME VERY VALID POINTS that were all but lost in Mr. Werleman's inelegant booner diatribe.

Holy crap some people get worked up over this...

I prefer fantasy, but I have to live in reality.
