Podcast Interviews with Non and Believers
Listening to the podcast today (it is older--I'm still catching up) one of the attendees asked Seth whether it would be any different for a child to tell his non-believer parents than it would be for a child to come out and tell his believer parents that he was an atheist. Seth gave a good explanation of how it would be different but the following analogy came to mind.

When you believe in Santa Claus and everyone else believes in Santa Claus, you cannot imagine that Santa Claus does not exist. But as soon as you discover that Santa Claus does not exist, you cannot imagine how ANYONE could possibly believe he exists. So I think the perspective of the atheist facing someone who is considering whether to believe is different than the perspective of the believer facing someone who is considering abandoning their belief (and moving toward enlightenment Smile
