RE: Poets' Corner (Serious Poems)
Friendship
A good way to express,
You're admiration for a friend,
Is to write it in a poem,
And from inspiration lend,

It should recognise the people,
Who impact upon your life,
The ones who make you smile,
And stand by you in times of strife,

Those who are important,
Should know how great they are,
That they're completely fucking awesome,
That they really raise the bar,

To all those that I care for,
Know that you're total greats,
I'll always have your backs,
Because I have some awesome mates.

You may have noticed I'm in a rather weird mood. Big Grin

Best and worst of Ferdinand .....
Best
Ferdinand: We don't really say 'theist' in Alabama. Here, you're either a Christian, or you're from Afghanistan and we fucking hate you.
Worst
Ferdinand: Everyone from British is so, like, fucking retarded.

RE: Poets' Corner (Serious Poems)
Friendship

If you wonder,
once in a while,
whether the words:
'we are true friends'
mean the same to both you and me
- I have to say: I do not know.
But, if you ask,
I will tell you
what it does mean to me,
when I query my mind.

Words that echo
inside my head
are 'honesty', 'trust', 'loyalty'
and 'concern' and yes, 'interest';
commitment to another soul,
one I deeply care about...
...but I must be dishonest,
or at least confused:
because I left something out
from the picture
and it must be there too, somewhere,
if truth be told.

The word I tried so hard to miss
is a word so terrifying,
that I needed all my power
to call it forth:
such a short and innocent word:
I'll say it now:
'Fear'...
...you see,
I have said it.
it is not a gaping abyss
under my feet,
not a threat of crumbling to dust,
it's a word of letters, it seems,
picked randomly,
lightly dismissed
and forgotten.

No, I'm lying.
The word's still there:
'Fear'...
...of dying,
of loneliness,
futility,
infinity of space and time,
and the fear of losing my mind.

Nightmare vision:
drifting through space
spinning slowly,
falling, falling,
no beginning,
no end in sight
of a journey
to the end
of limitless time.

I think: 'friendship' was invented
by a castaway like that spaceman:
to hold fast to his sanity,
last remaining shred of his mind.
He imagined the distant stars,
tiny points of blinking light
were his soul mates,
sharing his fate,
watching his path,
loving him as
the desperate
and the condemned
can only love
before they died.

And yet, and still,
friendship must mean more than fear,
because I know :
I could face, and I could defy
all the horrors,
I could throw my body and mind
into harm's way,
into pain and into fire...
...if only with this final act
I could save you,
my beloved,
my dearest friend...
...if only the moment of death
could give me what
I never had:
purpose,
meaning,
destination,
deliverance,
my completion,
my peace of mind.

PS. Kids, there is a lot more to poetry than rhymes and obscenity. In time you will figure it out. But, for now, you are on your own. Gone for a while again, will look in a few months to see if you learnt anything. Good luck! Smile

PPS. One more thing: try to put the emphasis on quality, rather than quantity. It is not a race and you don't get paid piecework.

Just for fun, before I leave...

Little Dog

Little dog barking,
snapping at my heel,
I wonder if it knows
how it would feel

if the roles were reversed:
it holding the pen --
I around him,
in dizzying circles,
clucking like a hen?

Little mosquito

Little mosquito
buzzing in circles
around my head.
Probably testing
with its feeble sting:
could it make me mad?
Seems like it is back with a vengeance
but I have to treat it with indulgence,
because it is not really bad,
only very, very sad.

Sad

Look Zat, I found a room showing you how many people give a fuck about your opinion:

I am so very much enjoying all these expressions of free-speech, demonstrating everyone's right to their opinion.

Let's hope it doesn't start getting personal.

How about you put a little emphasis on not being a fucking waste of old space cunt.
Nobody likes you, just fuck off and die already.

As cruel, ridiculous, absolutely unnecessary, vindictive, and dickish as it may be, it's still a serious poem and free speech. There are no rules against being a dick or trolling members.

So yeah, stop reporting the post.

I may be eating my words later because I think this poems is going to start unnecessary work and headaches for me in the future, but I'm going with my gut on this.

As a personal request, Muffs, stop being a 5 year old. The world doesn't revolve around you and you don't always get what you want.

Yes, Zat can be a douche, but you can be a dick. It evens out. Why don't you just attempt to ignore him?

And hey... now that you have your own thread, you don't have to look at his poetry.

You don't have to thank me right now... you can do it later Thumbsup

You're welcome, buddy.

Anything else I can do for y... well no... before you ask... no. I won't do that.
