by ~Atothetheist

Oh, how I've fallen

I was flying so high

looking, not down,

but up towards the sky

But my wings were broken

so I went down

With only one tear in my eye

Now I'm on my knees

Crying, wishing for God to let me fly again

"God, please"

Oh,how I've fallen

No need to weep

just fall back asleep

for your pity is something I could never keep

oh, How I've fallen

you're still crying

I can hear

how come?

When, to you, the skies are so near

I'm on the ground

where hateful around me are abound

Oh, how I've fallen

I am a disgrace

I don't deserve

God's Holy Grace

I have fallen so low

that every one here only says one word "No"

I want to fly

but I fear that if I try agian

I will die

because with me so low and you so high

I could never reach you

so why bother doing something I can never do

Still, I love you.

oh, How I've fallen.

( Ohmy Unsure Blink ..... The shit I wrote when I was a fundie..... Not bad stuff looking back, but now it makes me facepalm)
Ha ha, that is so funny. I also wrote a poem, I think I was 13 years old, and it is somewhat similar. I memorized it back then, I still know it (cuz I'm a poet).

Deep in the forest
Where the green moss lies
A baby bird hatches
And begins to fly

It flies about the mountains and the trees
It sees the village men get down on their knees
It hears them whisper a song of prayer
It hears them whisper a song of prayer

I wasn't.
I was.
I wasn't.

E E is for earmuffs
A A is the second letter in earmuffs
R R is typically the next letter to arrive on the scene after the A
M M is one of two middle letters in the word earmuffs
U U is the other letter in the middle of the word earmuffs, the other letter being M
F F is how you know you are starting to get to the end of the word
F F is the second F in the word earmuffs, being the only letter to repeat itself
S S means that we have come to the end of the word earmuffs and the end of my poem.
I'm about to drop some mad truth, son. This poem will get buried in the great fabric which these internet threads compose and will never be recognized for its genius. I'm going to say this right now, and you all remember this for the rest of your days: This poem is more brilliant than it will ever get credit for. Wicked props. Clap

"Tom, answer me true, now."
"Answer what true?"
"Whatever happened to happy endings?"
"They got them on shows at Saturday matinees."

Learning To Dance Again

With some effort, we’re
learning to dance again

The steps
once easy
but now …
so many years

We’ve forgotten how
to move
to invent
to hear our music

New dance partners
New steps

Not too fast,
not too quick, quick
slowly does it.

He leads

Light on the toes
hand on arm
fingers touch
sway to the rhythm
movement in the hips

Off we go

Make her spin

This is supposed to be about Jesus, isn't it?

Well done Erx. Top marks.

Yes, it's about Jesus getting back on the dating scene after being ditched by his long-term gf Mary M.

I thought I had been subtle and cryptic but you spotted it. Good job.

Great poem by the way. Wink

Connections

(…for Nicole. At her estranged father’s bedside, a candle burned out as he took his dying breath.)

For better
for worse
you left me.

You did not want me
to see you
grow old
or grow up?

Yet,
we are connected
in thoughts
in words
in silence.

What there was
has all but gone;
your candle
almost burned away.

Such strength,
such courage,

to choose your moment
to let the flame flicker
and die.

And…

for what you did for me
before
and after
I was born

I thank you.

Still connected
I need no more signs to show me
........................... how much you love me.

You love me.

RE: Poets' Corner
Seventy-four

sing of my gwynnies
in the dark
and cold
and can they ever know...

i just want it to end
to stop
for the torment
to expire
their praise
the log of yule
upon the funeral pyre

but all you know
is words
for words is all ever been spoken
and this
broken
fool
knows not what will
what is will
in your token?
can i please die quietly
in your shame of silence
or must my moment persevere
in your kind
regard
will you please pass me by
in your self
sanctity
or will you
will me
in your image

there
is no dreams
in the final embrace
taunt me not
with what
you have been taught
for
what i am
is but passing
fame
and
what
i what i want s
for all to know
naught
my name

i love you
my gwynnies
my life
my cares
and it it is
for no one
to no one
to name
my despair
for what
i want
i will
expire
and the last of me
in my first
very first
desire...

burn me, burn me, burn me whole
for all, for all, for all
that you think you know
i haven't been here for you
i haven't been here
to confirm
your truth
only to sing, to sing, to sing
of her
and a world
not of I
not of we
but of all...
